(MILAN, Italy) – Sustainability was a central theme at the recent HostMilano, the world's leading hospitality exhibition, with innovations extending even to chef apparel. Leading uniform supplier "ChefWorks" launched its new "Eco-Toque" line, a collection of chef hats made entirely from recycled and biodegradable materials.
The new line features hats crafted from recycled PET bottles spun into a soft, durable, and highly breathable fabric. Unlike traditional paper or cotton hats, the Eco-Toque is designed to withstand numerous industrial wash cycles, significantly reducing waste from disposable alternatives. The line includes various styles, from the classic tall toque to modern skull caps, all meeting the highest standards of hygiene and comfort.
"The modern chef is increasingly concerned with the environmental footprint of their kitchen, from sourcing ingredients to managing waste," said a ChefWorks spokesperson at the launch event. "With the Eco-Toque, we're offering a simple yet powerful way for culinary professionals to align their uniform with their values."
The product launch included a demonstration of the material's lifecycle, highlighting how at the end of its use, the hat can be composted in industrial facilities, closing the loop.
